ECCAM
The strategic objective of the project is to promote sustainable development and poverty alleviation by increasing the availability of trained and qualified high-level professional manpower in the Caribbean and Pacific countries.
The project intends to strengthen cooperation between Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in the Caribbean and Pacific region in view of increasing access to quality education. Postgraduate students will undertake postgraduate studies to promote student retention in the country along with mobility of staff (academic and administrative) while increasing competitiveness and attractiveness of the institutions themselves.
The specific objectives are:
- provide access to higher education for economically and socially disadvantaged students, particularly from rural areas and remote islands
- facilitate cooperation on recognition of interdisciplinary studies and quotations;
- continue to the progressively improve the quality of higher education through promoting internationalism, harmonization of programmes and MSc and PhD curricula with partner institutions;
- enable qualified international students, academics and staff to benefit logistically, culturally and professionally from the experience gained in the context of mobility to another country and ;
- promote inter-institutional cooperation between sending and host institutions and enhance medium to long-term educational, cultural and economic links between participating Caribbean and Pacific regional countries.
